In case you missed it, the 2024 Arcadia Invitational came and went over the weekend and plenty of athletes from all around the country showed up and showed out.

For Week 5 of the COROS Distance Athlete of the Week, both winners picked up the win in California, moving towards the top of the national leaderboards as well.

Check out the briefs below for more information about this week's winners, as well as links to the previous winners.

Patrick Hilby, Aurora Central Catholic (IL)

Class of 2024

In his first race since capping off his indoor campaign with a New Balance Nationals Indoor title and personal best of 1:48.47, the University of Wisconsin commit finally made his outdoor debut, opening up his season at the coveted Arcadia Invitational.

Hilby proved once again that he's one of the top half-milers in the country, winning in a nation-leading time of 1:49.47.

One reason Hilby was such a tough athlete to beat over the weekend was because he took it out in 52.4, three seconds quicker than anyone else in the field. He had just under half of a second between him and the runner-up once the dust settled, but that gap proved too much for any of the field to overcome.

Hilby led five runners under 1:51 and picked up his first win in what's likely to be a fast and legendary senior sendoff.

For those keeping track at home, that's also Hilby's fourth time going under 1:50 and his ninth time under 1:55.

Isabel Allori, Liberty Common (CO)

Class of 2024

- - -

She became the second girl this season to break 10:00 in the 3,200m this weekend at Arcadia. The four-time Colorado state champion broke the tape in 9:58.08, coming out on top of a field that saw 19 girls run under 10:20.

Allori got out to a brisk 5:04 first mile, and at that point was still battling it out with a strong pack up front. However, the experienced senior opened it up over the last mile, closing in an untouchable 4:53.87.

Allori has been having a senior year that a lot of distance athletes dream of, highlighted by her recent runner-up finish in the two mile at New Balance Nationals Indoor in 9:48.20.

The Eagle standout is now 2-0 this outdoor season and has plenty of racing left to add to her win total.
