WATCH: The Bullis School Girls Break Longstanding 4x400 Mark


* The Bullis School girls (MD) broke the national high school record in the 4x400m with a 3:35.23

Over the weekend, the Bullis School (MD) girls toed the line at the Florida Relays to compete in the 4x400, the final race of the weekend in Gainesville. 

On the line was Payton PayneSydney Sutton, Kennedy Brown, and Morgan Rothwell.

They ended up running the fastest time in high school history, clocking a time of 3:35.23.

When the starting gun went off, Bullis School, Miami Northwestern (FL) and Montverde Academy (FL) took turns leading this race in the hopes of setting up their team to grab the victory.

The race came down to the anchor legs.

Rothwell, who grabbed the baton in third position, had to make up a 20m deficit and aggressively made up ground. The last 200m showed that it would be a foot race to the finish.

Rothwell came around the turn in front and was able to hold off Miami Northwestern.

A 20-year-old national high school record fell on a sunny afternoon. Long Beach Poly's (CA) finally became the No. 2 all-time performance with a 3:35.49.

Miami Northwestern finished with a 3:36.12 and Montverde Academy was third in 3:37.28.
