The newly minted Florida 3,200m record holder Riley Smith continued his winning ways last week, this time off of the track. Last weekend at the FSU Relays, the Buchholz (FL) senior once again showcased his closing speed, running away from the former record holder and defending state champ following the bell.
Smith clocked a new PB of 8:39.71, closing in a 58.11 to crown himself the fastest in Florida history.

Smith was named the National Boys Performer of the Week presented by Firefly last week, edging out Gilbert's (AZ) Vance Nilsson by a single vote, 259-258.
Just like last week, voting will close on Friday at 12:00 p.m.

This Week's Nominees:
Clay Shively, Trinity Academy (KS): In his outdoor debut, the star miler dropped an 8:44.29, breaking the Kansas two-mile state record, one that has stood for 45 years. Shively's record-breaking time converts to 8:41.29, also a Kansas state record, and the No. 2 time in the country this season. The Northern Arizona signee already has one record to his name this spring, and will most likely chase a few more before the end of the season.
Kai Evans, Lake Minneola (FL): One of the top hurdlers and sprinters in Florida, Evans ran the 400mH for the third time this season at the Windermere National Invitational of Champions, picking up his third win in the event. Evans broke the tape in 51.83, breaking 52 for the second time this year. Evans already owns the No. 1 time in the country, a 51.77 ran just a few weeks ago.
Karson Gordon, Houston Episcopal (TX): There might not be a better confidence boost than jumping a PB at one of the biggest meets of the year. Down in Austin, TX, the senior soared to a new 53-1.5 lifetime best in the triple jump, winning the competition by nearly five feet. Gordon remains the only athlete with a mark over 52-0, and one of just two to have leaped past 50-0.
Paul Migas, Lake Villa (IL): In a highly anticipated matchup between a collection of the best high school vaulters in the country, Migas came out victorious at the 96th Annual Clyde Littlefield Relays. In his best performance yet, Migas cleared 17-4.75 to pick up the win and rise to No. 2 on the national leaderboard. This is Migas' sixth straight trip over 17-0.
Quincy Wilson, Bullis School (MD): This isn't his first time as a nominee this season, but when you clock 45.19 as a 16-year-old, a re-appearance is warranted. At the Florida Relays, Wilson ran a nation-leading time and came close to breaking Jonathan Simms' (Allen, TX) sophomore record of 45.12. As the 8th fastest 400m runner in high school history, Wilson could become just the 4th high schooler to ever break 45.0.
