The second half of Saturday night's elite girls 1,600m at the Texas Distance Festival was all Nicole Humphries.
The Flower Mound (TX) senior and Oregon signee clocked a winning time of 4:43.51 on the Southlake Carroll High School track, but perhaps more impressive was her differential.
Even splits.
Humphries may have taken different routes to get there, but she laid down a final lap of 69 seconds and claimed even 800 meter splits of 2:21 to take down a field that included teammate Alex Fox and contenders like Juliet Frum, Madison Peters and Macy Wingard.
Her performance was also good for U.S. No. 1 on the season and secured a career best time for Humphries, surpassing her former best of 4:44.91 from June at the HOKA Festival of Miles, which was an en route 1,600m time.
