We already knew the boys 4x200m meet record was in jeopardy on Friday at the Texas A&M Bluebonnet Invitational. Duncanville's 2022 squad ran 1:25.45 in 2022.
We got a preview of a potential powerhouse state battle this season between these two Class 6A heavyweights.
In the second to last section, Humble Atascocita cruised to the line as Jelani Watkins anchored the team to the win with a new meet record of 1:24.51 and a U.S. No. 2 mark behind Florida's American Heritage 1:23.57.
Duncanville, which was the second-fastest team in the country going into the meet with a 1:24.91, finished second overall with a 1:24.66.
Katy Tompkins and The Woodlands also dipped under 1:25 as the teams respectively went 1:24.75 and 1:24.96.
