One of Sadie Engelhardt's first big races of the 2024 season will take place next week at New Balance Nationals Indoor.
She'll follow it up the very next week with another.
The Ventura High School junior is entered to compete in a women's professional 1,500m field on March 16 at The TEN, a high-performance distance meet put on by Sound Running in San Juan Capistrano, California. The meet will stream live on FloTrack.
Engelhardt, the nation's top returning miler who is coming off two national titles at New Balance in 2023, opened her season on Feb. 3 in Boston, clocking a U.S. No. 1 time of 2:41 in the 1K. A day later, she ran a mile at the New Balance Grand Prix in 4:34.45, defending her title from the season before.
Engelhardt also clocked an en route 1,500m PR of 4:15.01 in that race. She's run an outdoor 1,500m PR of 4:11.79, which she accomplished two years ago in a pro field at the Portland Track Festival.
Running against professionals won't be new to Engelhardt, but she will go up against an accomplished field that will include recent Arkansas graduate Lauren Gregory, Mammoth Track Club's Grace Barnett, Taryn Rawlings and Eleanor Fulton.
The meet will take place under the lights and will feature high school sections of the 800m, 1,600m and 3,200m along with professional divisions of the 1,500m and 10K, the latter closing off the night with American Grant Fisher hoping to run an Olympic standard at the distance alongside Adriaan Wildschutt, Woody Kincaid, Joe Klecker and Ben Flanagan.
