WATCH: Abdoul Sy-Savane Starts Off Season With 7.64 In 60mH

National champions have that edge.

On Saturday, Abdoul Sy-Savane opened up his indoor account with a brilliant performance of 7.64 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles, holding off Bradley Franklin by just two-hundredths of a second to reclaim the nation's No. 1 time in the event at the Galleria Games in Birmingham, Alabama.

Sy-Savane, the ATL Zoom Athletics star from Atlanta, Georgia who won a New Balance Nationals Indoor title in March, was down after hurdles one and two, but he regained his edge over his last two frames to out-lean Franklin, who burst out of the blocks in December to record the country's top performance.

Thompson didn't leave disappointed, though. He continued to lower his career PB, dropping time from his 7.71 from his first meet of the season on Dec. 2 to 7.66, an effort which puts him at No. 15 all-time in the high school record books at the distance.

Sy-Savane's mark would have netted him at U.S. No. 13 all-time if he didn't already own a 7.59 from NBNI last year, a performance which stands at U.S. No. 4.
