Girls team results merge from all 4 classification races at the 2023 FHSAA State Championships.
The Dillard girls shocked many when they got on the podium last year as the state runner-up squad in 3A. This year, getting back on the podium to win their program's first ever state title was no shocker as virtually all season long the girls from Fort Lauderdale had been showing themselves as one of Florida's best high school cross country teams.
Led by individual champion Christian Coleman, who stepped it up even more from her upset win over Ashley Fitzgerald at the regional to drop a new 5K PR and her first sub 18 minute in 17:53, the rest of Coach Gill's girls followed her lead and stepped up as well with strong individual races from the rest of their varsity scoring lineup.
