The Scoop: NXR Regionals, FHSAA, and CIF Southern Sectionals

San Clemente and Santiago Corona Rule CIF Southern Sectionals With Several Individuals Collecting Consecutive Titles

- - -

The road to State in California is not for the faint of heart.

Especially with a severe rain warning, and sudden shift of course for sectionals. However, many runners--if not all--welcomed the change.

A demanding and hilly race at Mt. SAC was transformed, and the CIF-Southern Sectionals now rested on a flat and fast course, perhaps a breath of fresh air of sorts.

Many runners took it as an opportunity to race fast without having to push as hard up the challenging hills of Mt. SAC.

Dana Hills' junior Evan Noonan secured the fastest time of the day marking 13:56-flat on the clock. Noonan defended his section title for the second year in a row, leading his team to a D3 win.

Additionally, despite suffering a bloody arch through the D1 race, Millikan's Jason Parra took the win with the second fastest time of the day at 13:57.40.

Fellow junior Rylee Blade led a memorable win for Santiago Corona as they collected their first team sectional title. Blade clocked the second fastest time behind Engelhardt at 15:32.80.

By the end, San Clemente took home not only a first place title for D1, but the fastest team average of 14:30. The Triton's star Brett Ephraim ushered the team win running 14:10.70, attributing his successful bid to the flatter course.

Dana Hills collected a D3 victory and second overall fastest average of 14:28.
