Allison Ince remembers vividly when the University of Oregon's track and field coaches first contacted her.

It was early November, 2022, a day or two after Ince's junior cross country season at Normal Community (IL) High School ended.

Over the next year, Oregon head coach Jerry Schumacher and assistant Shalane Flanagan remained in touch with Ince, a mid-distance star who is MileSplit's No. 5 recruit in the Class of 2024 recruiting rankings.
