Even though it feels like the cross country season just started, regional meets are headed our way.
The No.1 name to look out for in the NXR Southwest Region is Battle Mountain's Porter Middaugh.
Two weekends ago at the Warrior Lincoln SWL Championships, the senior secured a new meet and course record of 14:38.7, taking out last year's time by nearly 20 seconds.
Middaugh currently holds the fastest 5K time in Colorado. His performance is also the third-fastest time in the nation.
Mountain Vista junior Benjamin Anderson ranks second with his 14:48.90 from the Liberty Bell Invitational in early September.
