Mercer Island's Sophia Rodriguez, collecting her fourth win this freshman season, earned this week's National Performer of the Week win.
At the Mook XC Invitational at Alderbrook in Oregon last weekend, Rodriguez ran a strong personal best, dipping under 17 minutes at 16:49.78.
She was the only girl to finish sub-17 and was the only freshman in the top five.
During the week, Rodriguez's efforts earned 58-percent of the votes and was named this week's National Girls Performer of the Week poll.
It's time to vote for this week's NPOTW. The poll will end on Friday and the winner will be announced next Monday.
Here are the nominations for the National Girls Performer Of The Week:
Ruth White, Orono HS (ME): The Red Riots Senior collected her first sub-17 5k of her high school career at the Maine XC Festival of Champions running 16:56.92--her third consecutive win on the course. Taking home her fifth straight race win this season, White shattered the course record.
