Southlake Carroll And Flower Mound Go Head-To-Head

At the Nike South Invitational, we got a glimpse of how the UIL Cross Country Championships could unfold in November.
On the girls side, we saw a head-to-head matchup between Flower Mound and Southlake Carroll, who finished 1-2 in 2022.
This time around, the results were a slightly different story.
Southlake Carroll was able to defeat Flower Mound, 85 to 92 points.
The Dragons finished with an 18:31 average but were able to get their top scoring athletes in the top 28. Led by Elizabeth Smits, Southlake Carroll's top five finished 10-12-20-24-28.
The Jaguars, who were led by Oregon commit Samantha Humphries, finished with their runners in the top 46 with an 18:19 average.
Five girls finished the 5K course in sub-18 minutes. Humphries won the title in 17:13 and earned a 147 speed rating for her performance. The Pearland standout, Madison Peters, finished as the runner up in 17:26 and Alexandra Fox of Flower Mound was third in 17:28.
The Southlake Carroll boys were able to put in a winning performance with 27 points over Katy Tompkin's 124. Caden Leonard went 15:06 and earned a 188 speed rating for her performance. He led Southlake Carroll to a 1-3-7-10-13 finish.
