That was Abby Faith Cheeseman's winning 5K time a the Frank Horton "Night" Classic.
Cheeseman, a senior from the Webb School (TN), won her season opener in a solo effort. Her new personal best is the 17th performance that's sub 16:30 for 5K in high school history.
Ultimately, the race was for second place. Lilly Overby of Simpson Academy finished in 18:32 for second and Zoe Marsh of Houston High School was third in 18:35.
In Cheeseman's post-race interview with MileSplit, she shared how she's looking forward to competing at Foot Locker Nationals in December. The three-time TSSAA state champion was fourth in 2022 at the Champs National Cross Country Championships.
