This past weekend, the NCAA cross country season shifted into high gear with a few major meets across the U.S.

Those meets included the Roy Griak Invitational in Minnesota and the Virginia Invitational at Panorama Farms, the site of the 2023 NCAA Championships.

The Virginia meet featured nine of the top 16 teams in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll, while the Roy Griak meet had three top 30 teams.

The NCAA Championships aren't until Nov. 18, so some coaches are pacing their runners to peak long into the season.

However, the meets this past weekend served as a barometer of sorts to see who to watch out for as the season progresses.
