WATCH: Madison Peters Hits The Gas At Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Tex. -- Pearland's Madison Peters began Friday's race conservatively enough.

Then she hit the gas just before the 2K split and didn't look back, pulling away from the field as she earned her second straight Texas A&M Invitational title, clocking a time of 17:43.3 at the Watts Cross Country Course.

It marked her second straight win of the 2023 season. Peters won the Texas A&M varsity race in 2022 in 17:52.30.

Conroe Grand Oaks' Staucie Lees was second in 18:15.5, while Edinburg Economedes' Maddison Surita was third in 18:31.3.

The Aledo girls eventually pulled away from the field with 157 points, though their lead runner, Madison Larson, did not finish.
