For most high school athletes, their outdoor seasons began in March or early April and concluded with state meets in May or June.

But others decided to prolong their seasons by competing in national summer meets, including the AAU Junior Olympic Games which took place last week in Des Moines, Iowa.

Below, we look at five girls recruits who performed well at AAU and showed why they'll be gaining attention from major college programs this fall. 



Makeriah Harris, Scotlandville (LA)

Harris, MileSplit's No. 7 recruit in the Class of 2024, continued her sensational outdoor season by winning two events at the AAU Junior Olympic Games. 

Competing in the 17-18 age category, she finished first in the 100m hurdles in 13.61 and went 58.64 in the 400mH, which is the U.S. No. 6 time this year. Harris won the 400mH by 1.4 seconds ...
