DES MOINES, Iowa -- Talk about domination.
Hannah Durrant, a '23 graduate of Elgin High School in Illinois, finally earned a title-winning moment in a championship race on Sunday, pocketing a U.S. No. 3 time of 15:38.84 in the 3K racewalk at the AAU Junior Olympic Games at Drake Stadium.
Hannah Durrant, the twin sister of newly-minted 3K national record-holder Heather Durrant -- who qualified for the Pan American U20 Championships in the 10K racewalk in June and will represent Team U.S.A. in August in Puerto Rico -- won her first national title on Sunday.
Last year Hannah was the runner-up. She was third in 2021 in the 15-16yo division and also a runner-up in 2019.
Durrant's sister Heather claimed a new national record in the 3K racewalk on July 26 at the USATF Junior Olympics in 13:27.22, surpassing the former mark 13:28.00, last achieved by Taylor Ewert in 2019.
