Mia Brahe-Pedersen has been in the news quite a bit lately behind her Nike NIL deal and her finals runs against the senior women at the USATF Outdoor Championships a couple weeks ago.

But before the Oregon sprint star was a household name in the track and field community, she was a star in the youth development stage.

At the 2021 AAU Junior Olympic Games, Brahe-Pedersen showed just a glimmer of her future trajectory in prep track and field.

Brahe-Pedersen dominated the 100m for the 15-16yo division as a freshman, clocking 11.98 (-2.0) to earn the first Junior Olympic title of her career. She would go faster in the round prior with a 11.75 (+0.4) performance to solidify her spot in the finals.

She would also go on to take second in the 200m in 24.67 (-1.9) to end the lone Junior Olympic Games of her high school career with two medal-winning efforts.

Since 2021, Brahe-Pedersen has emerged as one of the top American high school sprinters with PRs of 11.00 (+1.5) in the 100m and 22.43 (+0.2) for 200m. Her 200m effort also ranks as the second-best in U.S. high school history, only behind Allyson Felix's 22.11 (-0.5) national record.

At the USATF Outdoor Championships, Brahe-Pedersen finished seventh in the 100m (11.08) and eighth for the 200m (22.65) as the sole high schooler in each of the finals.
