This young athlete to the North is doing big things.

On Friday at the Harry Jerome Track Classic in Langley, British Columbia, rising year-11 athlete Alexa Dow clocked a blistering time of 4:18.64 for 1,500m, finishing sixth in a women's field that featured University of Washington's Madison Heisterman and a contingent of other experienced women's racers.

The Canadian Youth athlete's time took down a U18 British Columbia Provincial Record and it ranks her first at the distance in Canada outright for her age bracket.

Right now, it also ranks No. 32 overall for Canadian women

For comparison, that performance would also tie for a U.S. No. 4 high school mark at the distance alongside U.S. phenom Sadie Engelhardt, and it would be the second-best sophomore mark over the 2023 season.

Dow, a rising junior at Frances Kelsey Secondary School in Mill Bay, British Columbia, is no stranger to Canadian youth track and field circles.

She is set to represent the Canadian National team at both the NACAC U18 Championships and the Youth Commonwealth Games in August following standout performances in the 800m (2:07.41) -- which gave her the honor of being the fastest high school girl in BC history -- and 1,500m at the BC High School Provincial Track and Field Championships in June.

She's considered one of the top rising middle-distance junior runners on the entire continent.

According to the Cowichan Valley Citizen, Dow trains with Bruce Deacon, a two-time Olympian and two-time national champion for Canada.
