It often takes boys track and field athletes some time to adjust to high school. They struggle against upperclassmen, who are bigger, stronger and more experienced.

Still, they usually start to come into their own as juniors, which is an important year both academically and athletically as they look ahead to college.

Below, we look at five boys who helped their recruiting profiles with strong junior years. These boys were all ranked in MileSplit's Top 50 recruiting rankings that were published last week, but they were unranked in MileSplit's previous rankings in January.
