Five years ago, Athing Mu was fast becoming a star in high school and club track and field.
The New Jersey native, who ran exclusively for the Trenton Track Club over her famed prep career, stepped to the line at the AAU Junior Olympic Games in Des Moines, Iowa, in 2018 with plans on securing four titles in the 15-16yo age bracket.
She would eventually win the 400m, 800m and 1,500m, though she came up just short in the 200m.
Still, Mu prospered from that point forward and went on to claim a 400m national title with Texas A&M a few years later before following with an Olympic and World Championship gold in the 800m -- and the 4x400 -- in 2021 and 2022.
Mu is now one of the fastest women in the world at 800m, and a global name in track and field.
