Just call Mia Brahe-Pedersen the queen of Eugene.
The junior out of Lake Oswego (OR) took to the track at what you could arguably say is her second home at Hayward Field on Sunday at Nike Outdoor Nationals, ready to chase after another monumental win and mark on the track just a couple weeks after dominating the Oregon state championships.
It's safe to say she had her magical Hayward moment in the 200m.
A day after winning the 100m Nike title, Brahe-Pedersen blasted out of the blocks and never eased up as she ran her way to a 22.43 (+0.2) personal best, good for a tie of US No. 2 all-time outdoors.
She joins Candace Hill on the leaderboard with her 22.43 (-0.7) win from the IAAF World Youth Championships in 2015.
Now, Brahe-Pedersen only sits behind the legendary Allyson Felix on the all-time rankings, whose national record of 22.11 (-0.5) has stood for two decades.
It's not the first time Brahe-Pedersen has neared a national record this season. In fact, she broke the previous indoor 200m mark of 22.97 from Bianca Knight with a 22.89 race at the Don Kirby Invite back in February before it was surpassed by Adaejah Hodge's 22.33 at New Balance Nationals Indoor.
The name "Brahe'Pedersen" now sits at the No. 2 spot in both the indoor and outdoor U.S. high school 200m record books.
But the season isn't over for Brahe-Pedersen. She'll look to compete at the USATF U20 Championships just a few weeks from now at the beginning of July.
