For the most part, juniors and seniors dominate the NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Track Championships, which took place this past weekend in Austin, Texas. That's not surprising as they are older and experienced and know what it's like to perform in a pressure-filled environment. 

Still, sometimes younger athletes, even true freshmen, show they can compete in college track's biggest meet.

Below, we examine five true freshmen men (in alphabetical order) who performed well at the NCAA outdoor meet. This list only includes men who competed at the high school level in the U.S. and were in the high school Class of 2022.
