The Indiana State Championships marked a big-time moment for quarter-miler Nayyir Newash-Campbell.
The Plainfield senior and University of Pennsylvania signee had one of the best races of his career at the state meet with a 46.98 effort to win the 400m. That mark not only gave him his second performance of the season under 47 seconds, but also earned him the 400m state meet record in Indiana.
Newash-Campbell additionally earned National Boys Performer Of The Week honors for the impressive race in the week 11 poll, earning 74-percent of all votes cast.
We're nearing the end of state championship season, and this week's performer poll features some of the last state title-winners to be crowned in the spring of 2023.

Issam Asinga, Montverde Academy (FL): Wow the men's professional 100m at the Star Athletics Sprint Series with a wind-aided mark of 9.83 (2.6). Asinga also clocked 10.02 wind-legal mark in the preliminary round.
Fabian Gonzalez, Southern Regional (NJ): Swept the shot put and the discus at the NJSIAA Group 4 Championships with winning marks of 63-5 and 197-5.
Alexander Sadikov, Ocean Township (NJ): Clocked a US No. 4 52.18 to win the 400mH at the NJSIAA Group 2 Championships. Sadikov also took third in the 110mH in 14.30 and fourth in the 400m in 48.42.
Solomon Holden-Betts, Baldwinsville (NY): Won the 3,000m steeplechase at the NYSPHSAA State Championships with a US No. 1 9:07.53. Also placed fifth in the 3,200m in 9:10.23.
Hayden Bills, Rosemount (MN): Logged a US No. 3 207-0 to win the discus at the MSHSL State Track And Field Championships. Bills also took home the win in the shot put with a mark of 66-7.5.
Jacob Cookinham, Bishop Stang (MA): Threw a season best of 66-0.25 to win the shot put at the New England Interscholastic Outdoor Track & Field Championships. That also moves Cookinham to US No. 7 in the shot put for the outdoor season.
