For the most part, older athletes dominate the NCAA track and field men's events. They are more experienced and have the edge over their younger competitors.

Still, on rare occasions, freshmen are able to perform at the highest level.

Below, we look at five true freshmen men who excelled at this past weekend's conference meets. We examined results from the so-called Power Five conferences: ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC.

This list only includes men who competed at the high school level in the U.S. and were part of the high school class of 2022.
