Reese Vannerson: The Final Stretch Toward A State Title

It's down to the home stretch for Reese Vannerson and his chase for a Texas state title.

The Houston Strake Jesuit distance talent came up just short at last year's UIL Texas Class 6A State Championships with a runner-up finish in the 3,200m. But 2023 has proved quite transformational for the Arizona State triathlete signee in his last high school track season.

With impressive personal bests of 1:53.48 at the 800m, 4:06.87 in the 1,600m and 8:58.42 for 3,200m set all within the last couple of months -- and not to mention the numerous district and regional titles won -- Vannerson has risen to the top of the ranks in Texas.

Now with the 6A state championships just days away, Vannerson has entered the final stretch.

Vannerson explains his journey from AAU Junior Olympic champion to state title hopeful in this extensive look at his final push for a state crown.
