PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- In the Championship of America 4x400m on Saturday at Franklin Field, the Bullis School (MD) girls made history.
A competitive battle with some of the top Jamaican prep teams saw the Bullis quartet of Myla Greene, Mirai Bernard, Sydney Sutton and Sage Hinton take third place at the Penn Relays behind Hydel (JAM) and Edwin Allen (JAM) in an astonishing 3:36.25.
That ranks as the fourth-fastest 4x400m time in U.S. girls high school history and less than a second away from Long Beach Poly's 3:35.49 long-standing national record set back in 2004.
And Bullis challenged for the Penn Relays wheel, too. The battle for first came down to the final turn as anchor Hinton went stride-for-stride with Hydel's and Edwin Allen's final legs, but ultimately came up just short at the line.
