The Georgia Bulldogs continue to sign track and field talent to their incoming freshman class.
Now, they can add an indoor all-time sprinter to that list of recruits.
Brody Buffington, a multi-time Maryland state champion out of Catoctin (MD) and an indoor nationals runner-up, has committed to the Georgia track and field program, as announced on the team's Twitter page on Monday.
The senior quickly became a breakout star during the 2023 indoor season as he rose to US No. 6 all-time in the 200m with a mark of 20.71 and sits tied for US No. 13 all-time in the 60m with a PR of 6.64.
Both of those historic marks earned him silver medals at New Balance Nationals Indoor in mid-March, finishing second only to the new national record-holder Issam Asinga in both events.
He additionally clocked new personal bests of 6.19 in the 55m and 33.80 for the 300m, as well as jumped 23-5.75 in the long jump. Buffington ranked among the top three performers in the country in every sprint event he contested during his indoor campaign, which earned him the No. 2 spot on the final MileSplit50 boys indoor track and field rankings of 2023.
Buffington becomes one of the headliners among an elite incoming freshman class for the Bulldogs that includes dual jumps-sprints athlete Micah Larry, 400m talent Mekhi Gammons and top combined jumper Zavien Wolfe, among many others.
The Georgia 2023 recruiting class now includes nearly 20 athletes as it leads the way as one of the top groups of incoming freshman track and field talents in the country.
