In a tightly-contested boys championship 400m at adidas Track Nationals featuring some the nation's best quarter-milers, Ocean Township's (NJ) Alexander Sadikov made an impressive statement.
Last Saturday in Virginia Beach, the senior led from break and never looked back as he sprinted his way to an adidas national title in 47.55, just off his season best of 47.40.
Sadikov beat out top competitors in Nata Vigo Catala, who finished as the runner-up in 47.67, and Sahfi Reed as the bronze medalist with a time of 47.81.
All three athletes rank among the top 20 athletes in the 400m nationally this indoor season.
The effort at adidas made for Sadikov's second 400m championship race in just a week's time after taking fourth in the event at New Balance Nationals Indoor in 47.65.
His 2023 nationals success also comes just a year after earning a sensational second-place finish in the quarter-mile at Nike Indoor Nationals as a junior in 2022.
