Neither athlete would let up in the final meters.
And so what followed was an epic battle between two of Florida's top sprinters.
Miami Hialeah Lakes' Mekhi Gammons inched past Miami Northwestern's Trimaine Brown in the final steps on Saturday at the Same Burley Invitational, scoring a wind-legal win in 21.45 (-0.6) seconds.
Brown was a hundredth of a second behind in 21.46.
