Ocean Breeze Elite Invitational Hosted Top Performers

In Staten Island, there were many of the nation's top athletes who competed for titles and sharpened their skills as they head into the championship part of the indoor season. 

In the sprints, McDonogh School's (MD) Elise Cooper continued to excel this indoor season by competing in the 60m-300m double. She took down her competition with a 7.63 and 39.17. 

Ocean Township's (NJ) Mark Viggiano continued to break through the two-minute barrier for his fifth race of the season. He won the title in a new personal best of 1:52.85 and led 11 of 17 boys through that mark. 

On the girls side, Angelina Napoleon of Allegany-Limestone (NY), the national high school record holder in the 2K steeplechase, ran her first 800m of the season and won the title with a new lifetime best of 2:11.32. 

There were also six girls who dipped under five minutes in the full mile. Kaleigh Gunsiorowski of Union Catholic (NJ) grabbed the victory with a 4:52.39. Meanwhile, Lindsay Hausman of Kent Place School was 4:54.03 and Hannah Andrejczyk of Shelton was third in 4:55.28.
