It wasn't so long ago that we witnessed the development of stars like Athing Mu and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone over their high school tenures.
The American talents, currently 20 and 23 years old, respectively, rose through the prep ranks and captured extraordinary results across a sea of invitationals and championships in the United States, elevating their abilities with each passing year.
But after Femke Bol, a 22-year-old star for the Netherlands, broke a 41-year-old World record this weekend for 400 meters indoors, it made us think.
How does she compare to the American talents?
Let's just start with the obvious. This weekend at the Dutch Indoor Championships, Bol ripped off a new World Indoor Record with a time of 49.26 seconds, surpassing the former mark of 49.59 which had stood since 1982.
