Josh Mooney made sure his last regular season race in a high school uniform would leave a legacy.
The Stonington senior and University of Connecticut signee tied the state record in the 55mH, authoring a time of 7.26 to win his first open championship at the event. The performance, a 0.15 second improvement from his best in the prelims, is also a new U.S. No. 1 time.
But he wasn't the only record-breaker.
The Hall boys, meanwhile, continued their strong tradition of top-flight success, posting a time of 3:24.88 in the 4x4, which was a new CIAC State Open record. It stands as the No. 11 time in Connecticut history.
