For the past few months, the University of Oregon has received commitments from some of the nation's top high school distance runners.
That's not too surprising, considering the Ducks last summer hired longtime Bowerman Track Club coach Jerry Schumacher as their head track and cross country coach.
Still, the Ducks have also been active in recruiting non-distance athletes. On Sunday, they received a major commitment from senior sprinter Brazil Neal from Gardena Junipero Serra (CA), who finished first in the 200m (23.68) and second in the 100m (11.57) at the California state outdoor meet last May.
Neal chose Oregon over several other colleges, including USC, whose campus is only about 10 miles from Serra, which is located in Gardena, California.
