Rhen Langley had never broken 4:18 before in the indoor 1,600m.
But that changed on Saturday as the LSU signee out of Zachary (LA) ran his way to a 4:13.91 PR at the competitive LSU High School Qualifier. That ranks Langley at U.S. No. 4 so far this season at the distance.
It also gave Langley the overall meet record in the event, which was a mark he said he came into the race knowing he could accomplish. He now holds the top state marks in all three distance events -- the 1,600m, 800m (1:55.59) and 3,200m (9:27.46).

And Langley's performance wasn't the on Saturday to excite in Baton Rouge.
Louisiana's star hurdler Makeriah Harris of Scotlandville continued to impress as she won both the 60m and 60mH in 7.56 and 8.55. John Curtis' (LA) Justin Horne also put on quite a performance in the hurdles, winning the boys 60mH in a 8.05. Horne also clocked 7.98 to dominate in the preliminary rounds.
In total, the LSU High School Qualifier saw 115 elite performances, including numerous Louisiana state leads.
