DURHAM, N.C. -- Since November 9, when the National Letter of Intent period first opened, the high school track and field community has been full of anticipation as it waited to hear where Shawnti Jackson would make her commitment.
The wait is finally over.
The nine-time North Carolina state champion and World U20 bronze medalist in the 100m decided not to rush her recruiting process as she forged ahead toward one of the biggest decisions of her young life.
While being surrounded by her friends, family, loved ones and teammates on Saturday, Jackson announced she would become an Arkansas Razorback.

Jackson, MileSplit's No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2023, will join a freshman class that includes the likes of John Scott Kendricks, Skye Tolbert, Rachel Homoly, and Conrad Trezza.
Throughout her high school career, Jackson became one of the most decorated sprinters in history.
Last indoor season, Jackson eclipsed Tamari Davis' national 60m high school record by a hundredth of a second at the Millrose Games with a 7.18. In that same year, Jackson clocked the No. 2 All-Time 300m performance with a 36.95 at the VA Showcase, just off Sydney McLaughlin's 36.82.
She also rewrote the record books in the 200m where she clocked a 23.23 in 2021 to tie the No. 5 All-Time performance.
Jackson also clocked wind-legal marks of 11.28 in the 100m, 23.06 in the 200m and 52.32 in the 400m.
