HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- On Saturday, over 3,000 athletes from across the country experienced an epic day of racing at John Hunt Park at the Garmin RunningLane Cross Country Championships.

Any where you looked, you could see scenes of desire, drive and passion exhibited on the course, one that over the span of the day muddied and softened, with the glow of sweat and ripped bibs.

Georgia-based photographer Alison Markham was on assignment for MileSplit and captured some of these scenes with beautiful accuracy. We highlighted 25 of her best shots below.
