BERMUDA -- Over the last several months, Bermuda has been working to prepare for its first Bermuda XC Challenge. Most athletes from the United States landed in Bermuda for the first time on Thursday to participate in this cross country meet.
Runners from Colorado, New Jersey and a handful of states in between are excited to end their season in this beautiful country.
The NJSIAA Group Championship runner-up Melina Johnston of Robbinsville (NJ) and the seventh-place finisher at the Colorado 4A State Championships Shalom Trowbridge of Central Grand Junction (CO) enters the meet with the fastest seed times and they both look to grab the victory on the island. Central Grand Junction, the third-best team at states, looks to have fun while competing at these championships on Saturday at the Botanical Gardens.
Even though the athletes are here to compete, they also had a chance to jump into caves, the beach, and interact with Hazel Clark, a three-time USA Olympian who has been the backbone to making this meet possible.
