Analysis: Schneider comes into his senior cross country season as one who showed great potential during 2021. He clocked an impressive sub-15:00 5k time of 14:52.70 at the Metro XC Championship last October, and that puts him on the rankings as one of the top 30 fastest returners for 2022. Schneider also returns to the 3A WIAA division as the defending state cross country champion behind his 15:17.10 performance last season.
But Schneider is additionally part of a Bishop Blanchet (WA) squad that boasts some of the top combined team talent in the nation and could go after a national title come postseason. He could be the key to aiding his team and the state of Washington into the national spotlight.
Schneider's strong outdoor track season also points to peak fitness. He cracked nine minutes for the two mile with a fourth-place time of 8:53.85 at Brooks PR, and he also won the 1,600m at the Washington state championships in 4:07.65. With momentum from last year's individual state title wins and a strong team behind him, Schneider certainly has the makings to be a national-caliber talent in 2022 and lead Bishop Blanchet to team success.
