The Preseason MileSplit50 Top 25 Boys Team Rankings

No. 8: Riverton (UT)

Analysis: Four returners are back from the squad that finished third at state and 17th at the Garmin RunningLane Championships a year ago. But that experience and depth and talent should give Riverton an advantage over its more notable competitors -- American Fork and Corner Canyon ...and we should also add, Herriman. 

Senior Jake Seegmiller broke 15 minutes for 5K a year ago, while Andrew Ludwig and Tyler McDougal each went under 15:30. At the end of the day, though, Riverton can't just rest on talent. On race day, this team will need to prove it. 

Biggest Question: Herriman. 

Already, the program led by Doug Soles is throwing a wrench into Utah's corner. This weekend, the boys of Herriman won the Tipmanogos XC Invitational, taking down nationally ranked Mountain View, American Fork and Riverton. It's still early in the season, but overcoming challengers like Herriman will be one of the biggest obstacles toward a state title.

X Factor: Depth. 

Riverton certainly has experience and depth, with four juniors and seniors in its top four. Relying on that depth to produce will be one of the team's biggest strengths in 2022.
