* Morgan Roundtree grabs gold in the 400mH at the AAU Junior Olympics

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Ten hurdles stood between Morgan Roundtree of Motor City Track Club (MI) and gold at the AAU Junior Olympic Games on Tuesday.
She lined up against the nation's sixth-fastest 15-16yo girl this year -- not to mention, defending champion Makeriah Harris.
But when the starting gun went off, it was Harris who led the way over the first three. Then Harris clipped a hurdle and nearly fell to the track.
Roundtree saw an opening.
While Harris was able to regain control, Roundtree stayed with her. Coming off the bend, the race was essentially neck-and-neck.
Entering the homestretch, Harris made her final push.
But as the penultimate hurdle approached, she hesitated. Roundtree didn't.
The Motor City athlete pressed on and crossed the line first with a new personal best of 59.34 seconds.
Harris earned silver with a time of 1:01.12 and Joslyn Hamilton of Raleigh, North Carolina was third with a 1:01.59.
