237-6
Ryan Crouser, Barlow (OR)
July 9, 2011
The current shot put world record holder also dominated the discus competition before his collegiate and professional years.
Crouser threw 237-8 in his last high school meet to secure the national record in 2011. Prior to that sensational mark, the Barlow (OR) talent had only thrown over 200 feet a handful of times, making his record all the more astonishing.
Since then, the best prep discus performance has come from Turner Washington of Canyon Del Oro (AZ), throwing 227-10.25 -- nearly 10 feet short of Crouser's record -- at the 2017 Prefontaine Classic.
It may take another shocking, out-of-nowhere throw similar to Crouser's record-setting performance in 2011 to name a new athlete as the all-time best in the boys discus.
