To kick off day two of the competition, on the agenda was the most anticipated event of the weekend, the 2K steeplechase featuring Angelina Napoleon and Karrie Baloga. These girls would face each other for the second time this outdoor season.
Leading up to this race, Napoleon broke the national record in the 2K steeplechase with a 6:24.32 at the state qualifier just last week. This left a bold statement.

Both girls lined up already as state champions from Friday's competition. Napoleon continued her undefeated streak in the 800m where she crossed the finish line at 2:08.58. Almost three hours later, Baloga hit the track in the 3K to grab the victory with a 9:37.50.
Saturday was a new day with a clean slate and a pair of fresh legs from a night's rest.
The starting gun went off to kick off the first event on Saturday with both girls facing each other once again since the Cornwall Steeplefest where Napoleon finished with the advantage.
The national high school record holder wanted to be in control of this race. She didn't even give up an inch.
The laps dwindled and Napoleon kept on pushing as she earned her second title in 6:30.59 for a new facility and meet record. Baloga and Sheridan Wheeler of Saratoga Springs finished second and third with a 6:32.58 and 6:39.92 respectively.
There were five girls who broke seven minutes at the state championships in this event.
