When you look at the national 400m boys leaderboard this outdoor track season, you'll find Ohio native Justin Braun at the top.
The Westerville Central (OH) senior ran a jaw-dropping time of 45.65 seconds for the quarter-mile event earlier this spring. Not only that, but he also signed with the University of Southern California (USC), an NCAA west coast powerhouse, earlier this year.
If you look further down that boys high school 400m list, though, it won't take you long to find another USC signee.
There, you'll find Kansas native William Jones.
Jones, who is a recent graduate of Blue Valley High School, has been electric in the longer sprints this year. The soon-to-be Trojan ran 46.29 seconds in the 400m for a U.S. No. 5 ranking and 21.00 in the 200m for a US No. 43 ranking this spring. That first performance was a new state record.
