Natalie Cook capped off an extraordinary season at the UIL Outdoor Track and Field Championships last weekend. The 5K national record holder led Flower Mound (TX) to a team title while also running two of the nation's fastest times this season and in history.
She started the state championships by clocking the second-fastest ever recorded time in high school history in the 3,200m. The OSU signee crossed the finish line in 9:48.25. She was just off Katelyn Tuohy's national record of 9:47.88.
Later that day, she doubled back in the 1,600m where she finished with her second state title in 4:40.29.
During the week, she earned about 60-percent of the votes to be named the National Girls Performer Of The Week. A huge congratulations goes to Cook for her stand-out performances.
Now it's time to vote for the next outdoor National Girls Performer Of The Week.
MileSplit will recognize a winner every week in this poll, with nominations handed out on Monday. The poll will end on Friday and winners will be announced the following Monday.
