Tmars McCallum saved his best for the state championships.
The Carolina Forest (SC) senior and North Carolina A&T recruit absolutely exploded out of the blocks in the 100m during the SCHSL Class 5A Championships, hitting a new U.S. No. 1 time of 10.13 seconds.
It was one of three state meet records on the day for McCallum.
While White Knoll's Andrew Bond stuck with him through 50 meters, the last half was a different story.
McCallum broke through in the final strides, hitting the line with confidence as he a claimed a wind-legal mark with a 0.4 m/s tailwind. His previous best was an FAT performance of 10.21 at the Region 6 Championships on May 5.
Bond followed with a time of 10.35 (+0.4).
McCallum followed with wins in the 200m (20.71), long jump (24-8.5) and the 4x100 (40.72).
Reportedly, he's the 10th athlete in South Carolina history to win four events at the state championships.
