7. Cyrus Ways becomes the fifth-fastest 300mH hurdler in state history
One of the more impressive performances of the state finals, Ways became the fifth-fastest athlete at the 300mH distance all-time, going 36.26 seconds. His performance at the top of the national rankings, which at the time would have been a U.S. No. 1, maybe only lasted an hour or so, as it coincided with Texas' state championships, which also produced U.S. No. 1 and U.S. No. 2. Ways wasn't done. He also claimed an all conditions time in the 110mH, winning in 13.53w (+2.2).
