PHILADELPHIA -- When it was heads up after the final pass, all Tia Clayton could think of us was one thing.
Win.
"I knew I was going to get the baton in front, or second place," she said. "But eventually I knew we would take this.
"I've taken this team to victory many times," she added. "And I will always do."
All Clayton did was take Edwin Allen (JMA) to the second-fastest time over the U20 category on the 2022 season, running just a shade behind the No. 1 world time of 42.58, which a team of Jamaica U20s ran on April 17.
Clayton all but silenced Hydel (JAM), which had worked its way even at the final exchange.
But the superior speed of Clayton, one of Jamaica's best young sprinters, was just too much.
And beyond that result, it was a total Jamaican smackdown. The first five teams across the line were from the Island.
St. Jago was third in 46.09, while Holmwood Technical was fourth in 46.42 and Immaculate Conception was fifth in 46.47.
