When you think of Newbury Park High School, distance running comes to mind. 

There's Colin Sahlman, the program's recent 3:58 miler, and his brother, Aaron Sahlman, who ran 8:01 for 3k. Then there's Leo Young and Lex Young, the younger brothers of NAU star Nico Young.

Leo clocked a 4:00 mile outdoors recently, while Lex went 7:57 for 3K indoors, which was second all-time.

But Newbury Park's success has come from the boys' team's depth, and the Panthers have some sneaky good runners behind those four. 

Which leads us to Daniel Appleford, a senior who recently announced his signing to the Colorado School of Mines, a top 100 engineering school nationally.
